Never leave to chance anything over which you can exert some control.
Small things may seem to be of no consequence. However, often the smallest things have a rather important AND possibly adverse effect on our businesses. Most of this occurs at the subconscious level.
Think for a moment how you feel about a product or service being presented to you by a sales person who uses poor grammar or pronounciation. If you carefully analyze your response, you will find it difficult to place a very high value on that product or service. Does the poor presentation actually devalue the product or service?
Not really, but it DOES devalue it in your mind as you listen to the presentation! The same negative effect occurs if you are reading a poorly written sales piece or Internet page, doesn’t it.
Of course, you do not have to leave these small but VERY powerful adverse influences to chance–the chance that your customer or potential customer can and is willing to overlook them so as to get a more objective view of the product or service you are presenting. You can either spend the extra time to do it correctly. If you are not comfortable with more precise writing, hire someone who does know the proper way to do so, to edit it.
If you are unsure of the proper way to speak, ask someone such as a speech coach to help you remove the rough edges. It will certainly pay off over the long run to afford that little extra expense at the outset.
To your business success!
